# Upcoming: Miller Theatre Previews Suzanne Farrin's Opera ~ Macabéa ~

On Thursday, October 29th, 2026, the Miller Theatre's Composer Portrait series will present the Concert Premiere of **Macabéa*,* a new opera by Suzanne Farrin. Inspired by Clarice Lispector’s final novel, *The Hour of the Star,* the work contrasts the conflicting forces of poverty and power. The program features the [Talea Ensemble](https://www.taleaensemble.org/?ref=oberons-vale.ghost.io), and provides an exclusive preview of the opera’s full premiere in Brazil in 2028\.
